Shang-Chi: 10 Things You Need To Know
5. He Appeared In Another Line Of Comics
The 1970s Kung Fu pandemic also saw the release of another line of comics from one of Marvel's cousin publishers, Magazine Management. Deadly Hands of Kung Fu celebrated all things martial arts, and contained reviews of martial arts film and TV shows and interviews with relevant celebrities and martial arts instructors.
It also contained comic imports of Marvel's most prolific Kung Fu-fighting superheroes. Iron Fist, Daughters of The Dragon and White Dragon all had their own regular exclusive story-lines - and as one can imagine, Shang-Chi also made a regular appearance.
Shang-Chi was arguably the the best choice of this import as he was the most faithful to the Kung Fu film/TV trend. His character was largely based on the persona of the main protagonist in the TV series, Kung Fu, and his look would eventually go through a phase of looking near identical to Bruce Lee. His presence embodied everything Hollywood grew to love about martial arts entertainment.
Deadly Hands of Kung Fu lasted for only 33 issues and enjoyed a short lived 2014 rebirth, with Shang-Chi as a driving force.
