Shang-Chi: 21 WTF Moments
10. Trevor Slattery Returns!
Many fans suspected whether or not the "fake Mandarin" himself, Trevor Slattery, would actually appear in the movie, and as it turns out, he does! For a surprisingly substantial supporting part, even.
Shang-Chi and Katy hear a terrifying noise from within Wenwu's compound, only to come across Slattery reciting lines of dialogue.
As it turns out, he's been held prisoner by Wenwu ever since 2014's "All Hail the King" short when he was broken out of prison, and goes on to explain to the pair that their father was about to execute him until his performance of Macbeth blew everyone away.
Wenwu then decided to stay his execution, and he's been performing weekly gigs of the Bard's play ever since as Wenwu's glorified jester.
Slattery also ends up helping Shang-Chi, Katy, and Xialing get to Ta Lo and sticks around for the final battle, but his finest contribution to the film?
A monologue where he explains he came to love acting after watching the 1968 Planet of the Apes movie for the first time, misguidedly believing that the apes weren't people in suits but apes acting - a belief he still seems to hold, in fact.
