Shang-Chi: 21 WTF Moments

13. Katy's "Art Of Confusion"

Near the start of the film when Shang-Chi and Katy are out for dinner with two of their friends, Shang-Chi tells a story of when he was being bullied in high school.

Just as the kid went to land a punch on him, Katy interrupted them and started singing the lyrics to The Eagles' inimitable tune "Hotel California."

Katy dubs the tactic "The Art of Confusion", adding that it "works great on stupid people." While you might expect this to have some sort of payoff in the third act, a callback actually happens much earlier than that - at the end of act one, in fact.

When Shang-Chi and Katy are attacked by Wenwu's men at the Golden Daggers Club, the pair escape onto some scaffolding on the side of the building.

Here, an imperiled Katy is confronted by a soldier and immediately blares out the lyrics to Hotel California - "On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair..."

Unfortunately for Katy her assailant isn't too stupid, as they're distracted for all of a hot second before again trying to kill her.
