Fans of Netflix's excellent crime series will be pleased to hear that one of its co-creators is the man responsible for Sherlock Holmes 3's current script.

Chris Brancato - whose movie work has been almost nonexistent up to this point - will be credited as screenwriter on the movie. It's unknown if anyone else will get story credit or a co-writing credit, and whether or not those aforementioned Pearce/Haythe scripts factor into this equation hasn't been mentioned.

Brancato's involvement in the film was first announced in May, so we don't know what stage the script is at. Since the upcoming Narcos: Mexico (a companion series to the main show) doesn't appear to have his name attached to it, it seems like his attention is fully on getting Holmes just right.

It's interesting that Warner Bros would hire someone as inexperienced in the big-budget space as Brancato is, especially for a tentpole franchise like this. But his work on Narcos - a very stylish, edgy show - proves how well he can spin a story, so Sherlock Holmes 3 is in good hands.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
