12. Erik Isn't Safe - Final Destination Bloodlines
Final Destination Bloodlines being the best-reviewed and most commercially successful film in the series is definitely an outcome few saw coming, and of its many memorably insane death scenes, none proved quite so unforgettable as poor Erik's (Richard Harmon).
It's revealed mid-way through the film that Erik is actually the product of an affair and therefore not part of the Campbell bloodline being targeted by Death, seemingly making him safe for the rest of the movie, right?
With this knowledge, Erik tries to help his family cheat Death, namely inducing a peanut allergy in his half-brother Bobby (Owen Patrick Joyner) and then reviving him to wipe him off the list.
But while they attempt this at the hospital, Death unexpectedly turns its attention to Erik himself, using a malfunctioning MRI machine to rip his piercings out, drag him towards the machine, and then impale him from behind with a wheelchair, which crushes his body and pulls it further into the machine.
Even for the gonzo standards of Final Destination this was absolutely wild, and all the more upsetting considering that Erik was by far the film's most likeable character.
As for how Death was able to kill Erik despite him not being on the list? As family matriarch Iris (Gabrielle Rose) explained earlier on, "Death doesn't like it when you f**k with its plans."
