Final Analysis
There is much potential within the story of Showgirls, particularly if it was reworked by a female writer (or at least someone with a better understanding of women than Joe Eszterhas). To do the material justice and appease the fans, it would have to push for an NC-17 rating but since NC-17 films dont make much money, any studio-driven remake would likely be R-rated. This would take money, but would also defeat the entire purpose due to the originals risqué subject matter. Remake Risk Level: Medium. Its not hard to make money from this, but you wont get a good film by going the easy way. Check back next Wednesday for our second article in our new "Risk A Remake" column.
