Sicario 2: Soldado Review - 5 Ups & 4 Downs

3. Isabela Moner Is A Compelling Female Lead

Isabela Moner plays the movie's most pivotal supporting role, as the aforementioned daughter of a drug kingpin who becomes a vital pawn in America's war on so-called "terrorism".

Moner came to prominence after starring in last year's Transformers: The Last Knight, and naturally, that movie didn't give any indication that she had much to offer as an actress.

But now that she's appearing in an actual movie rather than an expensive fireworks display, she's given the floor to demonstrate acting wisdom far beyond her 16 years.

Given the tendency for child characters to stink up serious thrillers, it's impressive that her character actually adds an interesting wrinkle to the narrative. Moner makes all the right choices with how she decides to play Reyes, and on the basis of her work here, she just might have a bright future ahead of her.
