Sin City: A Dame To Kill For - 15 Easter Eggs & References You Must See
4. A Not So Happy Ending Rodriguez doesn't really deal in happy endings - aside from in his more child friendly productions - and while it seems that Nancy is pretty much the only character in A Dame To Kill For to emerge with anything like a happy resolution, all is not as it seems. She ultimately gains her vengeance on Senator Roark, thanks to the interference of Hartigan's ghost distracting him when it appears he has the upper hand, but the title of her segment is "Nancy's Last Dance" for a reason, and at that stage she's already taken a couple of slugs. You could argue that the sub-title in fact refers to the fact that she can now leave her old life - defined by sexuality and close to vengeful symbol Chango - but it seems more likely that she dies after the final credits and finds her way back to Hartigan in the afterlife. Since Nancy's Last Dance departs from the comic books, it seems any subsequent sequels would have to scrub her from the timeline, if she is indeed dead, as it no longer makes sense for her to appear as the tortured stripper when her story is over.
