9. Philip Seymour Hoffman - Doctor Octopus
Hoffman has proved in the past that he is more than capable of playing villains - most recently in Catching Fire (when it seems he is playing a villain, at least) and he, like Harris, would bring a certain thespian note to the performance that would fit with Ock's status as the leader of the Sinister Six. Hoffman might not seem enough of a physical threat to play the villain, but Alfred Molina was hardly suitable for that side of the character, and Paul Giamatti still seems an unlikely casting choice for Rhino. That contradiction in Hoffman's physicality and the rigorous needs of the character's physical power would actually fit with conventional portrayals of Ock - he is not so much a hulk as a vulnerable figure over-powered by his tech enhancements, and his depiction allows for more movement in the casting choices. The Sinister Six casting team should consider acting ability above physical suitability, which would fit the character more than having someone who resembles Ock in the role (though clearly, Hoffman would require some sort of convincing wig to capture Ock's iconic look.)
