9. Gadgetry
While its important to not fall in to the trap of Bond always having to rely on gadgets to get out of dangerous situations, after two movies of Bond going mostly gadget free, it'll be nice to see Bond equipped with some unique tools on his mission. As evidenced from the trailer, Bond has a Walter PPK that only he can be fired, which is a nice reference to Bond's rifle in
Licence to Kill, and is a gadget that still works within the more grounded reality established by this continuity. What's great about the gadgets in the Bond films is that they're set up in the scene between Bond and Q, then paid off later. Think of the ejector seat from
Goldfinger (Bond: "Ejector seat, you must be joking" Q: "I never joke about my work oo7") or the exploding key chain from
The Living Daylights. Christopher Nolan took a page from this book for
The Dark Knight when Batman uses his arm scales, which had been established earlier as being able to shoot out, to defeat the Joker. Of course with the gadgets also comes...
