Slender Man Review: 2 Ups & 7 Downs

6. There's Tons Of Missing Trailer Footage

An insane amount of footage from the movie's trailers is missing from the final film, and it's been widely speculated that this was an attempt by Sony to curb the backlash stemming from the real-life "Slender Man stabbing" case which occurred in 2014.

It's a decision that severely compromises the film, with two character deaths being awkwardly cut out last-minute, resulting in said characters randomly disappearing from the movie without any real explanation.

There's also a subplot revolving around a young teenage girl (pictured above) that's ultimately only hinted at in the final movie, but considering how pivotal it seems to be, it makes the film feel incredibly disjointed.

Given how severely Slender Man has been chopped up - and that it ultimately bombed at the box office - it really would've been better for Sony to just quietly dump it on Netflix in its full, uncut form.
