Solo: A Star Wars Story Review - 7 Ups And 4 Downs
3. Han And Chewie
For all the hype around Lando, there's someone much more important to Han Solo appearing in this movie. Chewbacca was introduced to audiences over 40 years ago as Han Solo's co-pilot, and he's been a great supporting character since then but, especially in the more recent movies, one that hasn't always had a role perhaps befitting of his status.
This time around, without Luke and Leia to compete with, Chewie gets to find a place right at the very heart of the story and, for a walking carpet who speaks a language we can't understand, the movie completely nails it.
So many of the best character moments come between Han and Chewie, which is often where Alden Ehrenreich does some of his best work, and it really deepens their relationship and better explains their connection to one another, while offering a lot of the kind of bickering humour we've come to expect from them.
