6. The Fantastic Sonic/Tails Dynamic

The first film's mid-credits scene delivered extremely crowd-pleasing sequel-bait with the reveal of Tails, and for its flaws Sonic 2 absolutely delivers on the promise of bringing the beloved sidekick into the fold.

Tails' dynamic with Sonic is a sheer joy throughout: initially a Sonic fanboy who becomes his equal over the course of the story, their fast-growing friendship should prove heart-warming to both fans of the games and newbies alike.

Much of this is the result of a fantastic vocal performance from Tails actress Colleen O'Shaughnessey, who has been voicing the character for the better part of a decade across both video games and animation.

In many ways Tails is the heart and soul of the film, as seeing Sonic expand out his unconventional "family" with his new pal in tow is really quite sweet.
