Sonic The Hedgehog Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

1. It's One Of The Best Video Game Movies Ever

As much as this can't avoid sounding like a back-handed compliment, Sonic the Hedgehog is absolutely one of the greatest video game movies of all time.

Granted, the bar is set incredibly low, but it's honestly tough to imagine many video game adaptations which actually nail their protagonist so successfully, nor capture the style and tone of the source material so effectively.

There are arguments to be made that the likes of Mortal Kombat, the original Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Detective Pikachu are at the top of the pile, but Sonic really isn't far behind at all, and in some respects gets things right which these movies don't.

Better still, with everything being teased for the potential sequel, it's looking highly probable that Sonic 2 could end up being a solid improvement.
