Soul Review: 7 Ups And 3 Downs
3. Down: Graham Norton's Moonwind
Chances are, Graham Norton (of Eurovision and The Graham Norton Show fame... and, uh, Father Ted) probably isn't someone you ever expected to see lend their voice to a Pixar movie. He's a big part of Soul, though, taking on the role of Moonwind, a spiritual sign twirler who proves to be key in Joe's story.
Some will love what Norton does with his character, and others - hence why it's in the "Downs" category - will hate it. Your mileage will definitely vary depending on how much of a fan you are.
While Moonwind is undeniably important to the story and the way everything unfolds, he proves to be something of an irritating presence at times. In fact, this hippy is perhaps the only character in Soul who is a full-blown cliché, and the movie occasionally suffers, as a result.
Norton certainly doesn't ruin Soul, and if you are a fan, it's likely you will enjoy his weird work here!
