Spectre: 12 Easter Eggs & James Bond References In The New Trailer

1. The Bullet Hole

Initial interpretations of the new title card seemed to focus most heavily on the fact that the bullet hole featured looks a bit like the SPECTRE logo of old, with its octopus motif. But might there be more to the bullet hole? Given the frequent allusions to SPECTRE's past film appearances, as well as the glorious reuse of the On Her Majesty's Secret Service, it's hard to ignore the theory that the bullet hole is a conscious allusion to the death of Bond's wife at the end of that film. She is of course killed by a single bullet through Bond's windscreen on the order of Blofeld. It's unlikely that this Bond is going to suddenly remember he was once married, but there's a very strong suspicion that the death of a loved one (Hannes Oberhauser or even his parents?) will draw him into an investigation of SPECTRE, so there is at least a spiritual parallel to be read.
