Spectre: 8 Things Sam Mendes Doesn't Want You To Know

3. Who Is The Pale King?

According to reports, there wasn't much going on in that exclusive, Dench-starring clip other than the plot of Spectre being set up for the next two-or-so hours. Bond returns from his jaunt in the opening Mexico City sequence and is visited by Moneypenny, before he watches the M video - then a brief montage of footage from the movie ran.

There is one intriguing morsel of info offered by Bond in the clip, though. Asking Moneypenny to do a bit of mole-work inside the MI6 for him, 007 specifically instructs her to keep an eye out for any information regarding some character he heard about down in Mexico: The Pale King.

The Pale King is someone who Bond apparently must confront, but who or what The Pale King is at this point is a complete mystery. The sinister name (looks like one of the writers has been watching True Detective) suggests a shady villain, so it could be any one of Franz Oberhauser, Mr Hinx or the returning Mr White - or it could even be one of the apparent good guys, hiding their villainy behind a false moniker.
