There's been much consternation in recent months over whether or not Daniel Craig will appear for a fifth time as James Bond, for though his contract has him tied in for another go-around, he's expressed a certain exhaustion with the high-profile part and a desire to leave, infamously saying in a recent interview, "I'd rather break this glass and slit my wrists...All I want to do is move on." Though it's entirely possible Craig is simply saying this in order to score more money for the next film via a contract re-negotiation, critics have said that Spectre does have an odd feeling of finality to it (no, Bond doesn't die), and it would be a fairly neat leaping-off point for the star to make a graceful exit while ushering in the next actor. Time Out's review referred to the film as a "somewhat overextended victory lap" and said, "wed guess this could be his swansong", a sentiment reflected by many other reviewers. If that feeling of closure really is prevalent, then it'll honestly be pretty strange if Craig does return for Bond 25, which should be hitting screens in 2018, or in the event of a recast, possibly 2019. What do you make of the first Spectre reviews? Disappointed? Excited? Shout it out in the comments!
