Spectre Reviews: 11 Early Reactions You Need To Know
6. Lea Seydoux Is A Good But Underwritten Bond Girl
When it came to discussing gorgeous French actress Lea Seydoux's Bond girl Madeleine Swann, one word that popped up a lot in reviews was "underwritten", that though Seydoux does a terrific job with the part, the romance with Bond ultimately feels quite forced considering how deeply the two fall for one another, as though the film is trying to make her another Vesper. Indiewire complimented Seydoux despite finding fault with the script, stating that she "does a lot to flesh her out, and has tons of chemistry with Craig, even if shes served a duff hand by the films climax". In criticising the character development of both major Bond girls on the whole, Digital Spy called Swann a "thumbnail sketch". The real success here will be that Seydoux is introduced to more mainstream crowds in a huge way, but by the sounds of it, she won't end up ranked among the more memorable and interesting Bond girls.
