Spider-Man: 15 Actors Who Almost Played Major Roles
10. Arnold Schwarzenegger
It is no surprise that Cameron also turned to old pal Arnie when he was looking for another villain to add to his web of spidey villains. I'm not sure, though, how Hollywood would have felt about the Terminator expanding his metal arms into the role of Doctor Octopus, as the super-intelligent Dr. Otto Octavius is a bit of a mould break for Schwarzenegger's usual macho man roles.
He certainly had the torso to strut around NYC with cybernetic arms poking out of his spine and we have seen him rock a pair of shades, but we will never know - while the script still floats around on the internet, Arnie was never actually approached, and remained as a strong internet rumor.
Ironically it would have been Doc Ock as the main villain of the Cameronverse, while Henricksen's Norman Osborn would only have been secondary. Having two such iconic Spider-Man foes in one film could have been overkill, especially when one of them is headed up by Arnie. That being said, given Schwarzenegger and Cameron's relationship with sci-fi, the whole film could have been amazing.
