Spider-Man 2017: 10 Things Marvel Must Get Right

1. Keep It Fun!

The Amazing Spider-Man was criticised for going down the dark, Nolan route and with the aforementioned Civil War, Thor: Ragnarok and the ultimate two-film fight with Thanos, Phase 3 will arguably be going down a darker path. In some ways, Spider-Man's arrival is a bit late; Phase 2's mix of comedy with action would have suited him much better. But that doesn't mean the stand-alone movie should jsut get swallowed up in everything else that is taking place. Spider-Man is a fun character, generally younger and geekier than his superhero counterparts. His big action moments should take place amid the sunlit skyscrapers of New York City, something The Amazing Spider-Man films lost by setting some of its big action pieces at night. If you want dark battles, doom and gloom in New York, then Marvel have their Daredevil Netflix series for that. Even with darker characters like Venom or Carnage, the film needs to capture that sense of fun everyone attributes to Spider-Man. Marvel generally has a very good grasp on its characters, so there really is no reason that that should change with their interpretation of Spider-Man. What are your hopes for the next Spider-Man movie? Do you still want Andrew Garfield back or should it be a completely fresh slate? Should Venom get a second chance or are there villains that you feel deserve the limelight more? Please let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
