Spider-Man 2017: 10 Things Marvel Must Get Right

8. No High School Either - Spider-Man Should Have Been An Established Hero For A While

Marvel are clever enough to find an easy way round why Spider-Man wasn't present at the Battle of New York; perhaps he was fighting the Chitauri in another part of the citt. What they shouldn't do is establish that he was still a pre-bite high school kid when The Avengers took place. Like the dreaded origin story, audiences have already seen Peter Parker in high school in both previous incarnations; they don't need to see another. If Spider-Man has been introduced now to follow the unmasking story-line of the the Civil War comics, then it makes sense for him to be an established character when he inevitably takes on that role in Captain America: Civil War. Putting him in college or beyond will allow for themes that character's been unable to tackle thus far, which would help make this new take distinct. The new Spider-Man movie should feel fresh and exciting; another high school-based Peter Parker would be a step backwards.
