Spider-Man 2017: 10 Things Marvel Must Get Right

4. Use The Comics As The Basis Of The Story

To date the Spider-Man movies have only touched upon elements of the comic stories in which this character is based. Norman Osborn being killed by his own glider, his son Harry becoming the second Green Goblin and Gwen dying as Spider-Man tries to save her; the films have taken moments from the comics, but followed their own path when it comes to the plot. However Marvel has seemed more than willing to adapt whole stories onto film, from the Extremis story line in Iron Man 3 to the ultimate showdown with Thanos in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity Wars. There is no reason why the new Spider-Man film can't follow suit. Imagine Kraven's Last Hunt on the big screen? Or Maximum Carnage? There are more than enough great tales to shape a truly great Spider-Man movie. Alternatively, the next Spider-Man movie could pick up from the events of Captain America: Civil War, continuing the events of that story arc with the focus on Spider-Man and his role from the comics.
