Spider-Man 2017: 10 Things Marvel Must Get Right

3. Spidey As The Audience's Narrative On The Wider Marvel Cinematic Universe

It is evidently no coincidence that the announcement of Spider-Man joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe came shortly before Captain America: Civil War ramps up production. His role in that story is immense and could easily impact his own solo outing. But it doesn't need to end there. What are his thoughts on the Hulk, Thor, or the events of The Avengers and Avengers: Age Of Ultron? Spider-Man is the geeky hero with the quips - just how much fun would it be exploring his thoughts on the wider universe? The Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon wonderfully recreates the inner workings of Peter Parker's mind, from his desperation to join The Avengers to his hero worship of Tony Stark. Imagine Spider-Man becoming the hero that says what the audience is thinking, giving a down-to-earth opinion on everything that has happened in the movies. It wouldn't necessarily be about Spider-Man breaking the fourth wall and talking directly to the audience - that is best suited to Fox's Deadpool when he arrives on cinema screens next year - but he could bring an amusing narration on the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe.
