Spider-Man 3: 10 More Characters Who Could Return For MCU
7. Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina)
The Green Goblin was great, but for most Spider-Man fans, Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus was the franchise's best villain. Spider-Man 2 was a classic, hence why it's so confusing that Marvel Studios is bringing back Jamie Foxx's Electro instead of Doc Ock.
A wonderfully complex, sinister bad guy, Sam Raimi only really scratched the surface with Otto Octavius, and killing him off was definitely a mistake.
Like Willem Dafoe, Molina is a little older now, but it's not like Doc Ock has ever been portrayed as a young man in the comics. Behind those arms, he is just a podgy, weak scientist, and it's his brain which makes him a true threat to Spider-Man. If the Sinister Six are indeed coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then it's Doctor Octopus who should be leading them.
A fresh take on this villain would be welcomed by fans, and no one would complain if Molina were to reprise the role. He could play the version of Otto from Spider-Man 2 (perhaps he faked his death?), but a fresh start with a familiar face might be for the best.
