Spider-Man: 5 Things Marvel Will Miss From The Amazing Series

5. Andrew Garfield

What better place to start than with the (Spider-)man himself? The casting of the big screen's second Peter Parker in ten years was always going to be a hotly debated issue, and there was a large amount of expected skepticism when a relatively unknown Brit was cast as one of America's most iconic heroes. Two stellar performances in the red and blue quickly proved just why Andrew Garfield managed to snare the sought after role, and the impressive duality he displayed between the smart, decent Peter Parker and the spry, witty hero was perfect for the role. While his predecessor Tobey Maguire did a decent job as Spider-Man, he never really carried off a convincing Peter Parker in the way that Garfield did throughout the origin story. The fact that Peter Parker - not just Spider-Man - was a childhood hero of Garfield's was clear to see in his homage. While there are numerous actors at work who could jump in and do a decent job in the reboot, it's a shame that viewers won't be treated to seeing Garfield ply his trade into darker depths after the climactic events at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Perhaps most upsetting of all, however, is that they'll also be deprived of seeing him bounce material off the likes of Robert Downey, Jr in the upcoming crossovers.
