5. Black Cat Rips Off Of A Character Who Already Failed
Black Cat is a thinly veiled rip-off of DC's Catwoman, no matter which way you spin it. She was introduced almost 40 years after Batman's feline temptress, and there are too many pressing similarities in there to ignore. She's a thief with ghosts in her past, she finds herself attracted to the hero, she flips her allegiance depending on her mood...
And the worrying thing in that respect is that Catwoman has already failed as a stand-alone cinematic property - with a major part of that problem pinnable on the fact that Batman wasn't there to offer counter-balance.
Sure, both Catwoman and her Marvel clone Black Cat are compelling characters in their own right - and both have sold comics on their own - but they aren't as interesting as when they're teamed up with or clashed against the main event. And the God-awful Catwoman should be seen as the perfect example of what could happen here. Let's just hope this is one way that Black Cat doesn't follow in Catwoman's footsteps...
