Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Review - 8 Ups & 2 Downs
4. It's Got Several Great Villains
How great can any superhero movie truly be without a killer villain or two? And that this film absolutely delivers.
The primary antagonist is The Spot, who while initially introduced as something of a joke villain grows to become a more seriously dangerous threat as the story progresses.
Between his unique ability - the spots on his body functioning as interdimensional portals - and unexpectedly fascinating backstory, there's far more to him than meets the eye.
It's also no spoiler to say that Miles ends up coming to blows with Spider-Man 2099 over their differing philosophies for dealing with the multiversal calamity caused by The Spot, and Oscar Isaac does a terrific job making him a morally conflicted, dimensional quasi-antagonist.
The other villain can't really be discussed for reasons that will become obvious when you watch the film, but their presence will certainly leave fans eager to see how it all pans out in the third film.
