Spider-Man: Far From Home - 10 Biggest Questions It Leaves Unanswered
1. What's Up With Flash's Parents?
Flash Thompson (Tony Revolori) has a significant supporting role throughout the movie, once again playing-up to his archetype as an arrogant, privileged rich kid who hates Peter yet, hilariously, is a huge Spider-Man fanboy.
But there's clearly something else going on with the character throughout the movie that never quite gets the expected pay-off.
Numerous references are made to Flash's absent parents, both with briefly visible text messages on the bus and also when he's collected at the airport at the end of the movie by his chauffeur, while audibly asking about the absence of his mother.
This all seems very pointed and intended to imply something, and yet by film's end it amounts to nothing. What exactly are they going for here?
The Likely Answer: You could argue it's simply an attempt to make Flash less of a one-dimensional cartoon character and a more well-rounded person, but it's also possible that this is sewing the seeds for a larger role for Flash in Spider-Man 3.
Speculation is already running rampant that this could be leading to Flash becoming the MCU's Harry Osborn, taking Harry's arc for his own and becoming the Green Goblin in the next film.
It's a bit of a leap, perhaps, but not enough of one that it couldn't work, especially with how great Revolori is in the role. Either way, expect Flash's parental woes to have some sort of pay-off in the next film - otherwise its emphasis here just seems a bit odd.
