Spider-Man: Far From Home - 10 Biggest Questions It Leaves Unanswered
2. How Did Mysterio's Illusions Really Work?
Surely the most baffling storytelling element of the entire movie is the shamelessly convoluted nature of Mysterio's illusions.
Though they undeniably result in one of the finest action sequences from any Spider-Man movie when the web-slinger is waylaid by a disorientating spate of terrifying visions (including a zombified Iron Man), the overall sense of logic is incredibly shaky at best.
It's quite a stretch for audiences to buy that Mysterio's projectors and cloaked drones work in total, harmonious concert with one another to project 100% convincing images while causing tangible physical damage to their environment.
Furthermore, how exactly did Mysterio move the water around and get people wet in Venice during the Water Elemental attack, given that this seems a step beyond what the drones would be capable of?
The Likely Answer: This is definitely one of those things the movie really doesn't want you to think too hard about.
There aren't many elegant ways to have a supervillain create a mass-scale illusion, so the clunkiness of the mechanics aren't terribly surprising.
But in a franchise that's never shied away from silliness, clearly the hope is that most fans will just go along with it.
