Spider-Man: Far From Home - 10 Biggest Questions It Leaves Unanswered
10. Is Mysterio Really Dead?
One of Far From Home's biggest surprises was that Quentin Beck aka Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) appears to die in total earnest at the end of the film, given that the E.D.I.T.H. tech informs Peter (Tom Holland) that no illusions were active at that precise moment.
But with Beck being a master of illusions and all, not to mention the incredible prospect of the supervillain joining the Sinister Six down the line, is he really gone?
The Likely Answer: The gut feeling is yes, sadly. E.D.I.T.H.'s comment felt very pointed towards the audience, and it's highly likely that an actor of Gyllenhaal's work ethic only wanted to be locked down for a single movie.
Given that Mysterio posthumously outs Peter as Spider-Man, he's certainly created a huge problem for the web-slinger beyond the confines of this single movie, so that'll likely end up the character's legacy in the MCU.
But Mysterio's deceptive nature at least creates enough doubt that if Gyllenhaal decided he wanted to return in the future, it wouldn't seem any more convoluted than, well, a plan that involves duping the world with state-of-the-art projectors and drones.
