Spider-Man: Far From Home Trailer 2 Review: 5 Ups & 4 Downs

1. The Multiverse Is Open (And It's A Smart Reason For It Being In Phase 3)

The idea of alternate realities and the multiverse has been played with already in the MCU, but for them to herald the new post-Endgame era by opening the multiverse (as a result of one or all of the snaps in the culmination of Thanos' story) is a huge deal. It's also a clever way of justifying Far From Home being in Phase 3, rather than it being a simple tag-on job like Ant-Man was at the end of Phase 2.

The revelation also sets up the possibility of us seeing a raft of new characters and the introduction of mutants to the MCU without having to compromise too much on the core timeline. And when the brand is this strong, that's not something you'd really want to see messed with.

Fundamentally, even if it turns out that Mysterio is lying about his own otherworldly background, this is a smart way of expanding the MCU in a way that essentially gives Marvel a blank cheque of possibilities. Any story - whether stand-alone or in main canon - can be justified, no matter how bonkers, because alternate universes exist.

Some might say that's a cop out, but for anyone who wants to see things like Marvel Zombies, Ghost Rider and other versions of recently retired superheroes, it's definitely a good thing.
