Spider-Man: Far From Home - TWO Post Credits Scenes Explained
2. Quentin Beck's Legacy (And An AMAZING Cameo)
After a funky initial credits sequence (which feels very Peter Parker), Peter returns to New York and takes MJ for a joyride through the city (which she hates) before bidding her farewell to go off and do Spidey stuff. Only, he's then interrupted by a special news report that plays out over Times Square.
Then come three HUGE Holy Sh*t moments. The first comes courtesy of Quentin Beck, who is revealed by the news anchor to have recorded a dying declaration. Fittingly, he recorded a video message blaming Spider-Man for killing him and the London disaster using altered footage outing him as a villain. We see him telling Tony Stark's security system EDITH to "execute them all" as Beck lies dying, seemingly implicating Peter Parker as New York's residents look on in disgust.
And then it gets really REALLY good.
JK Simmons returns as J Jonah Jameson in the biggest surprise the MCU has ever pulled off (admittedly, his appearance at the World Premiere of the movie should have offered SOME hint). He appears to have been reframed as a sort of woke Infowars type rather than just the Daily Bugle editor.
He doesn't quite say "bring me the head of Spider-Man," but he might as well as he brands Spider-Man a public enemy. It is a phenomenal, jaw-dropping moment. Clearly, he's going to be the one leading the charge against Spider-Man as he has done for decades.
And then comes the final gut-punch.
Not content with all of that, the film adds another twist as Beck's message reveals that Peter Parker is Spider-Man to the watching world and shows his picture. It cuts to black, but the shockwaves are massive. No more protected by his secret identity, Peter (and his loved ones) is going to be a target for every villain who wants to take him out as well as the government, the police and everyone framing themselves as a vigilante.
Hell, he might even have to fight the Avengers if they don't get word of what Beck did.
And what of the second post-credits scene...? Strap in!
