Spider-Man: Far From Home - TWO Post Credits Scenes Explained

1. Nick Fury's Secret Project

Captain Marvel The Skrulls

Usually, with a mid-credits of that magnitude, you'd expect something more throw-away for the second stinger, but Far From Home pulls no punches.

We see Nick Fury and Maria Hill driving through New York discussing Peter Parker, only for Maria to transform into a Skrull and then Nick Fury to transform himself too. It's not Nick Fury, it's Ben Mendelsohn's Talos and Maria's stand-in is his wife, Soren (played by Sharon Blynn as she was in Captain Marvel).

They report a message on everything that happened in the film to someone off-screen and it's revealed they're talking to the real Nick Fury, who is "on holiday" in space on a Skrull vessel with an army of the aliens around him working on something mysterious. Clearly, Fury has had the pair stand-in for him and Hill because his work in space is so important.

What we're looking at here is probably S.W.O.R.D., the counter-terrorist, intelligence agency set up to specifically deal with extraterrestrial threats to Earth. It's actually already been alluded to in the premiere of season 5 of Agents of SHIELD when Phil Coulson says he has no information on human outposts in space and Yo-Yo Rodriguez challenges him: "S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn't have a space division called S.P.E.A.R. or something?"

That's a huge revelation in itself, quite apart from Skrulls being in disguise on Earth (which is even more interesting because of a line about Kree sleeper cells operating somewhere). It definitely looks like Marvel are set to expand more into the cosmic realms.

Seriously, just don't even think about leaving the cinema. it's worth it.
