Spider-Man: Far From Home - What The Explosive Ending Really Means

1. Nick Fury Has Set Up S.W.O.R.D.

As Talos Fury says at one point, he has nothing left of the Avengers and all that's left of S.H.I.E.L.D. appears to be him and Maria Hill working together to investigate anomalies as a means to protect Earth.

But, of course, Fury has an ace up his sleeve. When Talos is revealed, we get to see where the real Fury is - on a space vessel of some sort leading a team of Skrull as they seemingly build something. Given Fury's drive to protect Earth, you'd have to suspect that this is the formation of S.W.O.R.D. - the space-based alternative to S.H.I.E.L.D. designed to protect against extraterrestrial threats to world security.

S.W.O.R.D. stands for Sentient World Observation and Response Department and was introduced in Astonishing X-Men vol. 3 #6 as created by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday. Could this be the basis for the MCU expanding even more into cosmic realms?
