Spider-Man: Homecoming - 10 Spidey Movie Mistakes It Must Avoid
6. Underusing Fan-Favourites
Villains aside, let's not forget that Spider-Man isn't just the Peter Parker vs. [Insert Villain No.5] story. Since his creation in 1962 we have seen the webslinger develop a whole world of supporting characters around him, while the film incarnations have only just scratched the surface.
Everyone knows all about Aunt May, Mary Jane, and J. Jonah Jameson, but we have seen relatively little from the likes of Felicia Hardy, Dr. Ashley Kafka, or Betsy Brandt. All have been present in one or more of Spidey's big screen outings, but you would hardly be able to tell.
The big one everyone demands to see is the man with the moustache, but unless he is an editor of a college paper, it is doubtful that we will see J. Jonah Jameson popping up in Homecoming.
As for Aunt May, you have to get her in...and quick. Marisa Tomei had a brief appearance in Civil War as the flirty housewife. Admittedly it was a vast departure from the source material, but who is to say it won't work? Other newcomers with old stories - we will see the welcome return of Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, and Angourie Rice will be playing Betsy Brandt.
Hopefully Homecoming won't be forgetting about the little people in Peter's life in favour of the Parker saga.
