Spider-Man: Homecoming - 10 Spidey Movie Mistakes It Must Avoid
5. A Lack Of Easter Eggs
It may not be the right time of year, but we need some great Homecoming Easter Eggs: a nod to the aforementioned J. Jonah Jameson, hints of Oscorp, cameos from future big players, and the evolution of the villains.
All this and more are what we have come to expect from a Marvel take on Homecoming. Once Homecoming is out, expect every Tom, Dick, and Peter to be pawing over every inch of the film looking for clues of where to go next. Just recently it was decoded that the Civil War post-credits scene had a secret message from Tony Stark to Peter hidden in it.
That's not to say that the past films didn't have some ties to the source material. The Amazing Spider-Man films may have been chocked full of Easter eggs, but they were so subtle you could barely notice them. The Raimi era itself had a huge reptilian Easter egg of Dylan Baker as Dr. Kurt Connors, but spent too long muddling around to realise what to do with him.
Had the Lizard egg hatched, we could have had one hell of a film on our hands - Barker was reportedly in line to be the villain in the canned fourth outing. Thankfully Marvel is a lot quicker off the mark, and despite a mixed-bag of films, the studio seems to be doing a much better job recently of keeping its fans happy by scattering clues through its scenes.
Then of course there is that all import final scene...
