Spider-Man: Homecoming - 12 Biggest Questions It Leaves Unanswered

8. Is Scorpion The Next Big Bad?

Michael Mando's Mac Gargan only has a minor role in the film itself, appearing during the Staten Island Ferry scene, and yet he could have a major impact on the future of this series.

In the mid-credits stinger, a now scarred and injured Gargan returns as a prisoner alongside Adrian Toomes, and asks him a very pointed question about the identity of Spider-Man.

Since Gargan is the alter-ego of comics baddie Scorpion, it's a fair assumption this is the origin of that character, while he also mentions friends on the outside. That could be a reference to the Sinister Six, a group Sony have been trying to put on-screen for years.

Scorpion is one of the bigger villains to have never made it to the movies, so he's potentially a smart choice. It feels nailed-on that he'll be back, given the sting, but the bigger question is whether he'll be the main threat (which is a big step up for Michael Mando, but one he could well be up to) or just a part of the big team.
