5. Kraven's Last Hunt
When hunting for inspiration for the Homecoming sequel, Jon Watts and his creative team could do far worse than draw from one of Spidey's greatest comic outings.
Kraven's Last Hunt is exactly that, an iconic story which dares ask what would happen if evil triumphed over good and reminds us why Spider-Man needs Peter Parker.
It sees the game hunter defeat Spidey before masquerading as him in a replica costume to prove he'd make a superior crimefighter. In some ways, he's right. Kraven is brutally efficient in the role but lacks Peter's humanity, a vital aspect of heroism.
Kraven's Last Hunt is ripe for cinema because it's a strong candidate for greatest Spider-Man story never to be told on film, but it could be tricky to pull off on screen given that no groundwork has been done to set it up or establish Kraven in the MCU.
Tricky, but not impossible. And if Homecoming 2 ends up going down a different route, hopefully this will adapted further down the line in the Tom Holland era.
