6. Daddy Issues

The revelation that Liz is Adrian Toomes' daughter comes like a gut-punch, even with some rumours that Michelle was related to him (which would have made no sense on reflection). It works perfectly as a twist in terms of set-up and pay-off and leads to the genius scene when it occurs to Toomes that Peter is Spider-Man on their way to the homecoming dance.

There's a problem with that scene though. Toomes only works out Peter's identity while they're on the way to school, and warns Peter to stay out of his heist plans or there would be grim consequences. That threat pays off immediately as Peter leaves the dance to interfere, only to find Bokeem Woodbine's Shocker primed and waiting for him, in case he defied Toomes.

But how the hell did he get there so fast? He has to have been there before Toomes even knew Peter was Spider-Man, and even assuming Toomes rang him immediatley, it would be a pretty big coincidence that he was just wandering around close-by with his gauntlet ready.
