Tom Holland's brief-ish appearance in Captain America: Civil War provided convincing evidence that he just might be the best screen iteration of Spider-Man yet, and the consensus so far is that Homecoming absolutely clinches it.

There's universal praise for Holland's portrayal of a Peter Parker and a Spider-Man who actually looks, talks and acts like a teenager rather than an adult pretending to be one. Particular praise was also lent to his continued chemistry with superhero surrogate father Tony Stark.

After the awkward Andrew Garfield years, through no fault of Garfield's, it's great to see Peter Parker flourish with such a confident, sharply-written portrayal that's both accurate to the source material and very much a Spidey for 2017.
