Spider-Man: Homecoming Trailer - 6 Ups & 3 Downs

3. Welcome To High School

For the first time ever in a Spider-Man movie, the kids actually look like real kids instead of thirty year olds with five o'clock shadows playing dress up. Ever since the film's announcement, the comparisons to the high school movies of John Hughes have been mentioned and that certainly looks to be the case from this trailer.

The sight of Parker and Ned admiring new love interest Michelle (does her last name begin with a 'J' perhaps?) from afar invokes the dreamy-eyed innocence of a Breakfast Club or a Ferris Bueller with director Jon Watts looking to have nailed the desired style.

The high school experience has been fleeting in previous movies despite them being a large part of the comics for many years. Here's hoping Peter stays in school for a little longer this time.
