Spider-Man: Homecoming - What Does The Ending Really Mean?

4. Aunt May Knows

The very last scene in the film is one of the very best. Peter returns home from crime-fighting for one last time on screen, once more heading to his bedroom in costume without ever actually checking if anyone is there (despite already getting in trouble with Ned that exact way).

The result is Aunt May appearing behind him in the corridor and shouting "What the F-" as the credits crash over her line. It' s a hilarious touch, and it sets up May's traditional awareness of his secret.

Quite whether she'll follow her comic book alter-ego and throw him out remains to be seen, but the fact that she's younger than the comic version suggests Peter won't have as much guilt about balancing his heroism with looking after her. And at least we don't have to see another film where he flirts with the problem of being discovered and lying to his dearest family member.
