Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse - Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best

2. Miles Morales/Spider-Man

In addition to being a star-studded crossover film featuring an ensemble of Spideys, Into the Spider-Verse also serves as an exceptional origin story for the Miles Morales version of Spider-Man.

As a matter of fact, this is the most unique origin in a Spider-Man film we've gotten, seeing as how it lasts virtually the entire film. After all, he doesn't even get his definitive costume until the eleventh hour.

For some reason, when it comes to superhero stories, a lot of people automatically assume slow burn storytelling to be a bad thing. Just look at those who criticize Marvel's Netflix shows. However, the fact is that slow burn superhero origins can work incredibly well as long as the payoff is worth it. And that's exactly what happens with Miles.

We see this kid completely out of his element with an unfathomable responsibility on his shoulders and spend the entire film with him as he learns to accept his new life, face his own trials and tribulations, and ultimately become the hero everyone needs him to be.

Even better, Miles' slow progression doesn't hinder the film in any way, as there is a whole horde of more experienced Spideys present to keep the action moving, affording Miles all the time he needs to truly come into his own and earn the title of Spider-Man.

Make no mistake, for all the other Spider-people in Into the Spider-Verse, the movie is first and foremost about Miles. And he makes the most of every second.
