Spider-Man: No Way Home - 8 Best Fan Theories After The Trailer

5. Doc Ock Is Actually A Good Guy

One thing that's interesting about Molina's return in No Way Home is that, when we last saw him at the end of Spider-Man 2, he wasn't actually a villain.

In the climax of that movie, Peter successfully reinvigorates his old mentor's heroic side, resulting in Ock drowning himself - and his dangerous reactor - in the river. According to Molina, No Way Home will pick up Ock's story at that very moment, so doesn't that mean he should be a good guy when we next meet him?

To be fair, there's nothing in the trailer that makes it explicitly clear he'll be an antagonist - sure, he does look kind of evil, but maybe he just likes dark colours.

Naturally then, a popular theory out there right now is that Ock is actually the same, reformed version of the character we last saw in Spider-Man 2. Maybe he's helping Peter (or all three Peters) deal with this multiverse of madness - his extensive scientific knowledge could come in handy, after all.

Considering that everyone is expecting him to be a straight-up villain, it would be a nice surprise to learn that the Doc is sticking to his previously-established good guy guns.
