At the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, there was a clear set-up for what would have been a future iteration of the Sinister Six. From his cell, Harry Osborn recruited another villain, springing him from the Vault to join his operation.

The villain in question was Paul Giamatti’s Aleksei Sytsevich, who had tangled with Spidey at the very beginning of the movie. At the end of the picture, Aleksei was fully clad in his robotic suit and embracing his well-earned moniker of the Rhino.

Many fans felt that this not only wasted the talents of an actor like Paul Giamatti, it wasted a potentially great villain, and got everyone's hopes up for a coming together that never happened. However, thanks to Doctor Strange - or whoever it is pretending to be Doctor Strange? - this set-up may no longer be for nothing.

Peter Parker in the MCU has spent so much of his life looking up to, fighting alongside, and trying to live up to a man in a metal suit of armour. Wouldn't it be the perfect amount of irony if he now had to face off against an evil man with a bigger suit of armour?
