Spider-Man: No Way Home Nearly Featured THIS Major Marvel Comics Villain

Things could have been extremely different for Tom Holland's Wall-crawler.

Spider-Man Kraven

With Spider-Man: No Way Home now in cinemas across the globe, star Tom Holland has revealed audiences so nearly got a vastly different movie to what we ended up with.

Speaking during an interview with Collider, Holland explained how the original plan was for this threequel to have Kraven the Hunter as its main villain.

As Holland put it:

"For a long time, there was going to be a Kraven movie that was going to be the third movie, because things weren't working out and all sorts of different stuff. Jon [Watts - director] pitched me this Kraven movie, which actually was really cool. I don't want to talk about it in case that movie ends up happening down the line, but it was fun."

Of course, Sony Pictures currently has a Kraven film in early development as part of their shared Spider-Man Universe which also features Tom Hardy's Venom and Jared Leto's Morbius. This past May saw reports that Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been cast to play Sergei Kravinoff in said picture, although Sony has yet to formally confirm this casting.

For those unfamiliar with Kraven, he's the ultimate big-game hunter. Obsessed with tracking and killing the greatest of prizes, Kravinoff eventually sets his sights on what he views to be the best possible hunt: Spider-Man. Created in 1964 by the legendary duo of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Sergei is one of ol' Web-head's oldest, most feared opponents, with him debuting in The Amazing Spider-Man #15.

Rather than Kraven as the villain of Spider-Man: No Way Home, that movie instead revisits several cinematic Spidey villains of yesteryear. You can find our review of No Way Home here.
