Though Jon Watts' filmmaking doesn't feel as vibrant or inspired as either Sam Raimi or Marc Webb's more heightened direction in the two prior franchises, he does at least deliver where the film's action sequences are concerned.

From the overpass battle between Spidey and Doc Ock to the insane Mirror Universe trip the web-slinger takes with Doctor Strange, to the barmy final battle, the lightning-paced, conceptually creative set-pieces are sure to deliver the excitement fans expect.

In the case of that final showdown, sometimes an idea is simply so inspired that it'd be basically impossible for any competent filmmaker to get it wrong, and that's certainly the case here.
