Spider-Woman: 10 Things You Need To Know Before Her Movie
7. Not Only Jessica Drew Has Held The Mantle
It's highly likely that Jessica Drew will be the lead character of Spider-Woman, but it's important to note that she's not the only person to hold the mantle (she is, however, the original).
Julia Carpenter was the second Spider-Woman, and later changed her name to Arachne. However, she would ultimately become the new Madame Web, and many of her adventures are based in the mystical realm. The prevailing theory is that she will be the lead of the Madame Web movie, and that makes more sense than that revolving around an elderly woman.
The third Spider-Woman was Mattie Franklin, a young girl who first impersonated Spider-Man before starring in her own short-lived series. She didn't make much of an impact, and neither did Charlotte Witter, a supervillain who briefly called herself Spider-Woman.
There are other characters from different realities who have been Spider-Woman too, including Mary Jane Watson, Ashley Barton (the daughter of Hawkeye and Peter Parker's daughter), and Gwen Stacy. However, it seems unlikely any of them will receive the live-action treatment just yet.
