Spider-Woman: 10 Things You Need To Know Before Her Movie
6. Sony Pictures May Already Have An Actress In Mind
With the script currently being worked on and Wilde only just signing up to direct Spider-Woman, it's clearly still early days for the project. However, a rumour that started doing the rounds shortly before that news broke claimed that the ideal candidate to take on the role for Sony Pictures is Alicia Vikander.
She won an Academy Award for her work in The Danish Girl, and later entered the blockbuster realm (with mixed success) in Tomb Raider. The actress was praised for her take on Lara Croft in the video game adaptation, but an underwhelming script really let her down. Whether she would be interested in Spider-Woman remains to be seen, of course, but it's not hard to see why Sony is high on Vikander.
She's one heck of a talent, but even if the actress isn't someone the studio is able to secure, the fact her name has come up is a strong indication of the sort of star Sony is looking for. Jessica Drew is a badass, and a formidable, tough as nails lead is needed to successfully get that across on screen.
